Poll Results: Should unaccompanied children be allowed to fly?

On a recent domestic flight, a man was moved from his seat next to 2 unaccompanied children. He had done nothing wrong, but it was explained to him that it was airline policy. Jetstar and Tiger Airways get around this issue by not allowing chilren to fly without an adult. Should unaccompanied minors be allowed to fly?

Your children, your responsibility. Stop forcing everyone else to CARE for you kids. As others have remarked, arrange it with the airline and flight crew, and the kids should be up the front where cabin crew can keep an eye out.

Why move te man shouldn't the kids be under cabin crew care! and in this day and age a female could be a predator to. How sad for that gentleman to be moved and stuck with that lable.

I agree with the ladies below.. separated families who live states or even countries apart, may not be able to afford to pay for an adult ticket to accompany the child. From knowing someone who uses this services, I gather it works well and the child is well cared for. WHO sits next to the child shouldn't be an issue either, as long as the nominated flight attendant to cares for the child is attentive, it shouldn't be a problem.

With so many separated families, visitation would become impossible if a parent also had to fly every visit. Some circumstances rely on this service. I say keep it and continue to be vigilant.

At the age of 9 we had to fly internationally from UK to Singapore unaccompanied. Lets get real and stop all the nannying. I understand the world has changed but really SO MANY RULES!
